Work Experience

Within this module it is expected that students will develop the skills necessary for research or professional practice in the field of the OWP. The conditions for work experience for official degrees can be divided into four categories:

1. Academic Work Placements: Work Placements for academic purposes are generally managed by university centers and directed at students. They are part of the degree study programme (practicum) or can count as elective credits. The management and control of these practices is conducted by various management centers, and also thanks to the valuable contribution of the PRACUS portal . Types:

Involving a particular subject or PRACTICUM: these are work experience placements that are reflected in the curriculum associated with a given subject, with a fixed credit value. They can be core, mandatory or optional.
Recognition of Credits: work experience placements are included in various degrees as an elective or free choice. The number of credits that can be accepted is variable between the maximum and minimum amount that each degree requires and depends on the duration of the work placement.

2. Work Placements entry into the workplace: professional work placements are voluntary and managed by the Department of Work Experience in Businesses (SPE) in order to complement a student’s academic training and facilitate their entry into the world of work. They are carried out in a company, institution or any centre, department or service within the University, provided that the activity is related to their academic and professional opportunities. Depending on the features of the positions offered by the company, the selected student’s profile and funds for scholarships, Job Placements belong to the following two programs:

US Program:  Governed by the provisions of Royal Decrees 1497/1981 and 1845/1994, as well as by the University of Seville’s own conditions.
PRAEM Program: In collaboration with the Innovation, Science and Enterprise Council of Andalusia, for the "Andalusian Work Experience District". Within this program,  Andalucian Universities organise work placements in which you can choose any student enrolled in a Andalusian Public university who meets the requirements specified in the agreement.

3.Work Experience for Graduates: these are professional work placements that are intended to help promote employment of unemployed university graduates. They are managed by the SPE. These work placements are part of the Professional Employment Experience- PES that is developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Employment of the Andalusian Government, the Andalusian Employment Service and the European Social Fund.

4. International Work Placements: these allow University students to complete their training through placements in foreign businesses or organisations. The placements abroad help individuals to adapt to the demands of the labour market of other countries. They acquire specific skills and improve their understanding of the Economic and Social situation of the country in which they are living. What’s more they gain work experience.

These placements may be complimented, where necessary, by training courses or by refresher courses of the host country’s language or the language which is used at work. They are aimed at students or graduates. Within this mode of international work placements, we highlight the following programs: LEONARDO DA VINCI, ERASMUS-Work Experience, INTEGRANTS or VULCANO.
