Lines of Research

The lines of research for the Official PhD programme have been developed following the directives of the reference model put forward in 1990 by the European Network ENoP. The aim of this model, as mentioned previously, is to balance the training of professionals in this area of intervention, combining the various points of focus and perspectives from which it is pertinent to tackle the study of related phenomena with work, organisations and human resources.

Intervention in the workplace

Intervention in the workplace deals with individuals’ professional activity. In this field, individuals are considered ‘workers’. The following are the lines of research considered under this programme:

  • Group work concerned by new technologies
  • Development of work groups
  • Stress and psycho-social factors in risk prevention
  • Emotional processes in the workplace
  • Emotional responses in the workplace and job satisfaction

Intervention within organisations

Intervention within organisations deals with the (collective) behaviour of individuals in relation to the socio-technical structures termed organisations. The individuals involved in such structures are considered ‘organisational members’. The following are the lines of research considered under this programme:

  • Social climate in teams and organisations
  • Power, conflict and negotiation in organisations
  • Quality and customer satisfaction in organisations
  • Management of innovation, quality and organisational change
  • Programme assessment in organisations

Intervention in the field of Human Resources

Intervention in the field of human resources is focussed on the relationships between individuals and organisations: in particular on establishing relationships, their development and termination. In this field, individuals are considered ‘employees’. The following are the lines of research considered under this programme:

  • Ongoing training in organisations
  • Team management and leadership
  • Industrial relations in Spain and in Europe
  • Entry into the work force and socialisation
  • Gender issues in the management of human resources

Research methods

This field runs parallel to the three aforementioned areas and refers to research methods and techniques required both to carry out research and to optimise professional achievement.

  • Research methods in the workplace, organisations and human resources
